Rock on the Range Recap

As you may know from my post last week, I was as a rock and metal music festival this weekend called Rock on the Range. I had totally planned on posting about it all weekend for you guys and sharing makeup of the days and outfit of the days. But when I got there I became way more interested in living the experience instead of recording it, so I didn’t take as many pictures as I thought. Sorry.

The headliner for the final night was the Red Hot Chili Peppers. While I love listening to their music, to be honest I do not know a single song beginning to end; I know parts of them all. But I still really enjoy it and the show was amazing. I was sitting in the stands for their set and was too far away to get a good picture of the stage, but just look how many people there were. And that’s only the crowd right in front of the stage, not including all of us in the stands!

I only took one outfit of the day picture and it was in front of my crappy mirror at home, so the quality isn’t that great. The first day was hard to choose an outfit for since for the first half the day it was supposed to be sunny and warm but then drop to cloudy and rainy. Plus, music played till 11 each night. I settled on this lightweight hoodie since I could just roll the sleeves up while the sun was out and it would attempt to keep me warm once the rain started (I got too wet for that to happen, but it was a good try). I wore my Toms since they are cute and comfy, perfect for events like this. I took two pairs of Toms with me and just cycled through them both for the weekend.

My only Makeup of the Day picture came from the first day too (I was a little bored waiting for our ride). I cycle through makeup palettes and it was the Urban Decay Shadowbox’s turn, so all eyeshadow came from it. I thought that since it was a Rock festival, I could go a little darker or harder than I do for every day. Of course, when I was done I realized that I have probably worn this exact eye makeup to work before, so I guess it wasn’t super rock and roll. Oh well. It still looked good.

Indo (lid)
Mushroom (crease)
Blackout (worn as eyeliner)

I’m also in love with the color of my eyes in that picture. I promise you they aren’t edited. The only editing I did to that photo was retouch the really annoying zit I had on my chin that day.

I keep getting asked who the best show of the trip was. That question is just too hard to answer. Based on how they sounded, A Day to Remember and Bring Me the Horizon were my favorited to listen too. And ADTR brought out the showmanship with the coolest confetti cannons. I had never seen them before and had always wanted to, so that was a goal crossed off my list. But there were other brands that were cool to watch, even though they weren’t bands I’m super in to: The Struts, Five Finger Death Punch, Disturbed. I also got to see New Years Day again. I love them and try to seem them any time I can when they’re in town. And a few bands just had amazing showmanship: Red Hot Chili Peppers, Steel Panther, Rob Zombie.

During the second day there was a little bit of a lull where there weren’t any bands playing we wanted to see. Since it was raining and there was hardly any cover, the little group I was with were huddled against a wall under some bleachers trying to stay dry. My two friends decided that this was a good time to take a nap.

I don’t know how they did it. I can’t fall asleep in public like that. The rain was so bad we were all wearing those crappy plastic ponchos trying to keep dry.

This last picture is me back in the hotel room on the final night. I was beat, but I had an awesome time. All the bands were incredible, and I had forgotten how much I love concerts and festivals. I would totally go again next year.
